In 2014 my Sister was diagnosed stage 4 breast cancer. This painting was created in response to me dealing with that info. The guarded stance of the figure and the blank face are intended to depict the feeling of uncertainty and worry of what happens next as she unconsciously protects the thing that impart makes her a woman and is killing her at the same time.
